It's easy to feel like we have miles to go and so much to do before we are where we want to be.
Especially in the social impact space, where there's always more we can do to make the world a better place. There's always a better version of ourselves just on the horizon.
I get it, I feel the same way.
But I've learned that happiness doesn't come from measuring yourself against your dream. Happiness comes from appreciating how far you've already come.
So let's take a minute and give ourselves some credit. Literally. Set a 1-minute timer, choose one question from this list, and sit with it:
- What do you have in your life now — skills, relationships, growth, freedoms — that past-you would have only hoped for?
- What’s one challenge you thought would break you, but shaped you for the better?
- Which old patterns or cycles have you broken?
- What’s something you can handle with ease that used to feel overwhelming?
- If you could thank your past self for one decision, what would it be?
Celebrating ourselves is hard. I'm proud of you for pausing to do it — and I hope you’re feeling proud of yourself too.
In solidarity,
Katie
